TEENAGE goalkeeper Erlandas Durslikas has tragically passed away after committing suicide.
The 19-year-old only signed for Lithuanian club FK Trakai this year, and represented their ‘B’ side from between March and July, impressing in his seven games.
He was rewarded with a place in the first team squad, but couldn’t dislodge current No 1 Tymofiy Sheremeta for his debut.
Trakai – who finished second in the A Lyga last season – paid homage to the shot-stopper on their Facebook account.
While they also discouraged the idea of suicide to their fans – urging those having dark thoughts to not take their own life and that it isn’t the only way out.
They said: “The whole FK Trakai family conveys its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of Erland Durslikas.
“We want to emphasize that suicide is not the right way to deal with difficulties or problems.
“Even the worst hopelessness does not last forever.”

Before joining Trakai, Durslikas played for second-division side Lokomotyvas Radviliskis.
The goalkeeper is not the only footballer to have tragically died in recent weeks, with Stoke rocked by the news their former player Dionatan Teixeira passed away at the age of 25.
